Slips, trips and falls occur almost 1 million times per year in the U.S. and cause significant injury and disability. Slips occur when a person's foot/shoe slides along the walkway surface. Trips occur when the foot is impeded during the swing phase of gait. Slips and trips often cause a person to lose balance and will result in a fall if balance cannot be regained by replacement of the foot or by grabbing a handrail or other support. When a fall causes an injury, a person may have a Cause of Action against the persons who designed, built and maintained that walkway.
