Neurology Expert Witnesses
Neurology Experts Testimony and Legal Consultants
Neurologists specialize in diseases of the brain, spinal cord, nerves and muscles. In a forensic capacity, a neurologist is the expert to assess traumatic brain injury, cognitive dysfunction, and posttraumatic sequelae. Other pathologic states include disc herniation in the neck and low back, fibromyalgia, chronic pain, reflex sympathetic dystrophy, neurotoxins, peripheral nerve and electrical injury, all conditions well suited to neurologic assessment. In analyzing traumatic injury to the nervous system, a forensic neurologist would be expected to clarify the issues of causation, damages and prognosis for recovery. Additional topics that may be addressed by a neurologist include cerebrovascular disease, dementia, epilepsy, headache, memory loss, migraines, multiple sclerosis (MS), Parkinson's Disease, ruptured aneurysms, seizures, spinal cord injury, and strokes.
