Out of Control Lawsuits
I have found several law firms use the so called shot gun effect when starting a litigation, blaming anyone and everyone hoping most will settle out of court.
This practice has caused many large and small businesses to either close shop or have massive layoffs do to legal fees to defend these unethical actions.
If these law firms were honest and really cared abut the "victims" of mesothelioma they would take much less commissions and leave more for the victims.

When my mother passed away in 1981 from mesothelioma, no less then 5 law firms called us up saying how we should be compensated by our loss and before they could finish telling us the virtues of hiring them I just hung up the phone.
My mom did not install asbestos or remove the insulation nor did she install or remove boilers or related equipment.
I have been working with boilers since 1965 and related equipment such as valves /steam traps and chillers ,pumps and piping and never have I read or heard of any manufacturer suggest using "asbestos"
All the package boilers had fiberglass between the jacket and the actual boiler.
The larger boilers that came to the job sites were either cast iron sectional (called pork chop) or steel boilers that also came in sections and were welded together as many were too large to be installed in one piece so we installed them in two three or more sections and there was no insulation of any type on any of these boilers as supplied.
The actual installation of the insulation was either suggested by the specifying engineer or the installing contractor or the insulation contractor who also covered the piping.
Before the law firms start involving everyone in these costly suits why not ask if the victim smoked ( my mother did not smoke) Ask if they were ever at a bus stop when the bus was hitting the breaks or did they work on their own cars or watched their cars being serviced or do any welding.
Unlike a scalding / trip /fall type of lawsuit where you know for a fact when and where it actually happened asbestos exposure can happen in a variety of places and to put the blame on the boiler or related equipment is just plain ludicrous.
These costly law suits effect the entire industry in higher insurance premiums and the manufacturers have to pass these added expensive on to the consumer.
Yes people should be compensated, but the law firms should make sure the ones there are going after are the actual guilty party.
There should be some type of recourse for business owners who are dragged into these kinds of suits knowing full well they had nothing to do with the victims exposure.
