Berg Software Design, founded by Brian A. Berg, is a computer consultancy. Brian has had over 50 engagements involving patents, trade secrets, copyrights, source code and class actions. He is experienced with consumer electronics including storage devices and interfaces, particularly Flash Memory, Disk, Tape, CD, CD-ROM, DVD, WORM, RAID, Disk Arrays, SCSI, iSCSI, Fibre Channel, USB, SATA/ATA/ATAPI, Storage Area Networks (SAN), Optical Storage devices and file systems.

Brian Berg has performed object code disassembly and benchmarking, and has been a conference chair, session chair and speaker at more than 80 conferences internationally.

Berg Software Design has been an expert witness and expert consultant in over forty engagements involving patents, trade secrets, copyrights and contracts. These cases have drawn on Mr. Berg's twenty years of experience in the storage industry and his thirty-one years of experience as a computer engineer, and have involved technology in the storage, IC CAD, software and hardware industries.

Profile

Mr. Berg has extensive experience with storage devices and interfaces, including SCSI, iSCSI, Fibre Channel, IDE/ATA/ATAPI, USB, Hard Disks, RAID/Disk Arrays, Tape, Storage Area Networks (SAN), Optical Storage (CD, DVD, WORM, Magneto-Optical), jukeboxes and autochangers, Flash Memory and Server Blades.

He has written device drivers and software and firmware under Windows/DOS, UNIX variants (including Sun and Silicon Graphics) and embedded real-time operating systems (RTOSs).

Mr. Berg has been a software developer, project lead, industry analyst, seminar leader, technical marketer, technical writer, conference speaker, conference session chair and conference chair. He is experienced with various programming languages, including C, C++, Java and assembly.

Mr. Berg has written expert reports, been deposed, and has provided courtroom testimony at trial. These engagements have involved performing source code analysis, source code comparison, object code disassembly, benchmarking, and computer media duplication, as well as forensic analysis on data storage devices and file systems using tools including EnCase.
