He is one of the few experts who combines multiple credentials, having held senior managerial and executive positions at global advertising agencies and Fortune 500 companies on the one hand and, in addition, having strong academic/scholarly credentials which include authoring peer reviewed articles (very few experts possess both sets of credentials). He is also one of the few experts who has applied a combination of survey research methods and also non-survey research methods and principles to support his opinions, including consumer behavior theory and practices and social media elements. Not all experts issue both kinds of reports.
Dr. Chiagouris is a Tenured Full Professor of Marketing at the Lubin School of Business, Pace University, New York where he teaches undergraduate and graduate students on topics related to marketing, and advertising and survey research best practices. He holds a doctorate (a Ph.D.) in Marketing, with a specialization in Consumer Behavior. He is also the principal of BrandMarketing Services, Ltd., a marketing consulting firm founded in 1994. Notably, the Wiley Encyclopedia commissioned him to co-author the section in its Encyclopedia of Marketing entitled "Marketing Functions on the Internet" and also "Comparative Advertising"
He has been deposed on more than 90 occasions and has provided testimony in federal or state court or arbitration on more than 15 occasions. The majority of his cases have been Lanham Act cases and he has conducted or rebutted several Likelihood of Confusion survey.
In terms of his survey research credentials:
He has conducted or rebutted more than 20 surveys related to litigation and has conducted almost 1,000 surveys in connection with 35 years of commercial practice or scholarly research. On multiple occasions over the past 2 years, federal courts have certified Dr. Chiagouris as having expertise regarding survey research and which then granted him permission to render testimony regarding survey research, including having testified in Federal District Court in California in September, 2022 regarding survey research he conducted.

Survey Research to Support Litigation
Survey research is used to provide greater levels of understanding in a wide variety of disputes. Issues such as consumer confusion, misleading advertising claims, disparagement, copyright infringement and trademark disputes can be better assessed as a result of developing and executing survey research.
