Our company specializes in ceramic tile, glass tile, stone, terrazzo, brick, wood, LVT, laminates, carpet and other floor covering products. We are a professional company of expert consultants comprised of accomplished ceramic tile and stone installers, construction scientists, and other industry specialists. We perform inspections and investigations nationwide and in Canada, and have local inspectors near most major markets. We do have a FCITS Certified Flooring and Hard Surface Master Inspector for Residential and Commercial applications on our staff and we do perform wood, carpet, LVT, laminate, and other flooring inspections and investigations.

CTaSC provides the following services:

- Forensic Failure Investigations for Ceramic Tile, Natural Stone, Porcelain Tile, carpet, wood, laminates, vinyl, LVT, precast concrete, manufactured stone veneer and other floor covering and wall covering products.

CTaSC has local inspectors near most major markets throughout the U.S. and Canada who will travel to tile or stone problem sites to inspect, evaluate, and report findings, with a scientific approach.

CTaSC will investigate and inspect ceramic tile, glass tile, and stone (granite, limestone, travertine, slate, sandstone, marble, etc.) installation applications that includes tile exterior veneers, tile steam rooms, tile showers and bathtubs, tile swimming pools and water fountains, tile floors, tile spas, tile domes, and etc.

We do have a FCITS Certified Flooring and Hard Surface Master Inspector for Residential and Commercial applications on our staff and we do perform wood, carpet, LVT, Laminate, and other flooring inspections and investigations.

CTaSC performs ceramic tile and stone inspections for the Tile Council of North America (TCNA) and the Natural Stone Institute (NSI) formally the Marble Institute of America (MIA). Donato Pompo is a recognized consultant for the National Tile Contractors Association (NTCA). CTaSC provides objective ceramic tile and stone inspections based on Tile Council of America Handbook (TCA) and ANSI standards and based on NSI Dimension Stone Design Manual standards.

- Quality Control Services for Ceramic Tile and Stone Products and Installation Methods

CTaSC will review existing specifications to evaluate and advise suitability of the product and the methods of installation relative to the specified applications and intended use and the level of required performance.

- Testing

CTaSC performs project site testing to include ceramic tile testing, glass tile testing, limestone testing, granite testing, marble testing, travertine testing, sandstone testing, slate testing, and other natural stone assembly testing. CTaSC manages, performs, and evaluates ANSI standards and ASTM physical property laboratory testing on ceramic tile, natural stone, granite, marble, slate, sandstone, limestone, travertine, glass tile, installation materials, and to substantiate or further determine the cause of failures in forensic investigations.

- Market Research

Profile

CTaSC founder, Donato Pompo has been a Ceramic Tile Consultant (CTC) since 1979 when he received certification from the Ceramic Tile Institute of America (CTIOA). He served as past chairman of the CTIOA Technical Committee.

Mr. Pompo serves on Tile Council of America's (TCNA), the American National Standards Institute's (ANSI), ISO, NSI, NTCA, ASTM C18 and C21 standard committees that are responsible for updating and setting standards for the ceramic tile and natural stone industries. He has been a member of the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) since 1982, and is certified as a Construction Document Technologist (CDT) and a Council-Certified Microbial Remediator (CMR). He is a member of the Forensic Consultants Association and the Forensic Expert Witness Association. Donato is a certified ITS tile installer, a Certified Tile Specialist (CTC), and a Certified Stone Specialist (CSS) through the University of Ceramic Tile And Stone. He is a California Licensed C54 Tile Contractor ##1043005.

Mr. Pompo's undergraduate training is in biochemistry and he also has an MBA. His formal education, combined with over 35 years of experience in the field of tile and stone, from installation to distribution to manufacturing, makes Mr. Pompo a very effective and knowledgeable expert witness. Ceramic Tile Installation: Worked as a Union tile installer's helper for a Union ceramic tile contractor in Los Angeles, CA in the late 1960's. Continues to perform installations of tile and stone for personal projects. Currently holds a C54 California Tile Contractor's License #1043005. I am an ITS Verified Installer through the University of Ceramic Tile and Stone.

17 Years as a Ceramic Tile and Stone Importer/Distributor: Extensive experience consulting and assisting architects with their ceramic tile, glass tile, and stone selections and installation methods. Worked closely with ceramic tile and stone installers, as well as with general contractors, educating them and helping them design installation systems.

7 Years as a Manufacturer of Installation Systems: Over seven years working with a manufacturer of installation products and systems for ceramic tile, glass tile, stone and terrazzo. Provided technical consultation to architects and installers. Wrote installation specifications. Developed and ran training programs, investigated and resolved many job failure claims.

35+ Years of Training: Extensive experience with effective results in teaching installation methods for ceramic tile and stone to architects, installers, distributors, and manufacturers. Conducted presentations on technical information in order to prevent potential installation problems, and developed and provided training resources and programs.
