Sample Case Descriptions
Driver was rear-ended by another vehicle. After the MVA, driver noted hearing loss, tinnitus, and dizziness. The driver had hit his head but did not lose consciousness. Analysis included an estimate of trauma force involved. This was determined by 1) whether or not loss of consciousness occurred, 2) whether or not direct head impact occurred, 3) whether or not the airbag(s) deployed, and 4) whether or not seatbelts were worn. Audiograms, tests of balance function, as well as tinnitus handicap inventory were analyzed.
Hospital patient underwent an MRI. The loud noise allegedly caused hearing loss and tinnitus. Evaluation included analysis of audiograms, tinnitus handicap inventory, and whether or not ear protection was provided.
Patient underwent ear surgery. Postoperatively, patient allegedly suffered severe/profound hearing loss, tinnitus, and dizziness. Evaluation included examination of medical records, including audiograms and operative notes. Patient's deposition provided important information.
Construction worker fell from the roof of a building. Worker developed severe dizziness and imbalance. Analysis included evaluation of medical records, tests of balance function, and physical examinations.
