Dr. Shannon J. Johnson has more than 19 years of pharmacy experience specializing in clinical pharmacy, pharmacology, information systems, safe medication practice, and quality improvement. Highlights of his experience include serving as the Director of Inpatient Pharmacy at Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego (350 beds, 70+ employees). He has completed more than 125 legal related cases dealing with pharmacy and medications, with a case mix of 50/50 plaintiff/defense.

Dr. Shannon John Johnson is a pharmacist with PharmDmand, a private pharmacy-consulting firm and also has over nine years of experience as a Pharmacy Director at a large hospital (350+ bed) in San Diego, California. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry / Cell Biology (Pre-Pharm) from the University of California, San Diego. He received a Pharm.D. (Magna Cum Laude) from the University of the Pacific, School of Pharmacy.

He was a Safe Medication Practice pharmacist, Information Systems Consultant (Cardinal Health/Pyxis) and consulted on numerous projects for Health and Human Services Agency. Some of Dr. Johnson's accomplishments include being the Project Lead for the San Diego Pharmacist Emergency Response Team (RxERT) Health and Human Resources (HRSA) Grant Working Group, where he was responsible for a $25,000 grant dealing with the deployment of pharmaceutical surge capacity caches in regional health care facilities. He also successfully organized, promoted, and hosted over 50 continuing education programs with marketing to approximately 1100 San Diego Pharmacists. The end result was quality continuing education programs while benefiting the San Diego County Pharmacists Association (SDCPhA) and the San Diego Society of Health Systems Pharmacists (SDSHP).

Dr. Johnson also organized and facilitated 3 large scale training programs (>250 participants combined), including a Smallpox Vaccine certification module. He also provided pharmacy consult services direct patient contact and care for pain management and pharmacokinetics. Furthermore, Dr. Johnson also operationalized pharmacy application software and new systems/programs that impact many disciplines including but not limited to the pharmacy. He also assisted with the development of new programs one of which includes the pharmacy application of Sharp’s Electronic Medical Record (EMR). He also served as the team pharmacist for the local Disaster Medical Assistance Team (DMAT CA-4) and assisted the San Diego County Emergency Services to prepare Pharmacists for a terrorist event involving chemical or biological weapons.

In addition to his Professional Experience, some of Dr. Johnson's Professional Affiliations include the American Pharmaceutical Association, HIMSS (Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (2002 to Present), San Diego County Pharmacy Emergency Response Team (RxERT), San Diego Society of Health Systems Pharmacists (SDSHP), San Diego County Pharmacist Association (SDCPhA), Toastmasters International – “Club Fed”, San Diego, California, National Community Pharmacists Association, California Society of Health-Systems Pharmacists (1996 to Present), Rho Chi Honor Society; Beta Omega Chapter (Life member), and the California Pharmacists Association (1995 to Present).

Dr. Johnson has also been involved in the community by volunteering his time for the San Diego County, Clinical Disaster Service Worker (DSW), San Diego Pharmacy Emergency Response Team – (RxERT), All Experts Volunteer where he routinely answers pharmacy-related questions over the internet to the general public.
